New business websites

Website design for small businesses that need a stronger online foundation

A professional website should do more than look polished. It should explain what your business does, help the right customers understand their next step and give you a clear foundation for search, analytics and future marketing. TechneKaizen creates new business websites around your services, audience and practical goals, without requiring you to become a website expert.

Choose the right starting point

When Website Design is the right starting point

Website Design is the greenfield route: the structure, content priorities and customer journey can be planned around what the business needs now.

Website Design

A new foundation for the business

  • You are starting a new business or launching a new service.
  • You do not have a website yet.
  • You currently rely on social media, directories or word of mouth.
  • A very limited temporary page is not an effective foundation for the business.

Website Redesign

Already have a website with value to protect?

If you already have a website that needs to be reviewed, preserved, restructured or migrated, start with Website Redesign instead. That work needs to account for existing content, URLs, search visibility and customer behaviour.

Commercial role

What a business website needs to do

The design should support how the business explains, reassures and helps a potential customer act — not decorate the page without a purpose.

Explain the business clearly

Customers should quickly understand what you offer, who it is for and why it is relevant to them.

Build trust before the enquiry

Service detail, accurate business information and appropriately placed evidence help people judge whether to continue.

Make the next step easy on mobile

Clear calls to action, usable forms and click-to-call patterns where appropriate reduce avoidable friction.

Support search and measurement

Clear page topics, crawlable navigation and analytics foundations make future SEO and marketing work more practical.

The right emphasis varies by business model: a trade business may prioritise service area and click-to-call routes, while a consultancy or clinic may need deeper explanation and reassurance. Explore local SEO foundations.

Plan before polish

Website strategy before visual design

Colours and layouts cannot solve an unclear proposition or a missing customer journey. Planning starts with what the business needs the website to communicate and what visitors should be able to do next.

That thinking becomes an agreed structure for the pages, content and calls to action before detailed visual design and WordPress implementation begin.

Clear scope

What the service can include

The final scope is agreed around the business and project. This framework separates normal foundations from optional additions and specialist work, so a list is not mistaken for an all-inclusive package.

CORE

Core website design foundations

The consistent foundations considered for an agreed Website Design project.

  • Discovery and page structure
  • Responsive design direction
  • Agreed WordPress implementation
  • CTA and enquiry paths
  • Foundational on-page SEO structure
  • Accessibility and performance baseline
  • Launch and handover planning

PROJECT-DEPENDENT

Additions agreed for the project

Useful in some projects, but not automatically included in every scope.

  • Copy support
  • Photography sourcing
  • Analytics and event foundations
  • Advanced forms and routing
  • Third-party embeds or integrations

SEPARATE SCOPE

Work requiring a separate agreement

These needs change the delivery model or require ongoing specialist work.

  • Ecommerce catalogue, cart and checkout
  • Ongoing SEO or paid advertising
  • Custom applications or portals
  • Advanced booking systems
  • Hosting or maintenance retainers

Business knowledge, translated

You do not need to become a website expert

You bring the knowledge of your business. TechneKaizen turns that information into a practical page structure, content plan, responsive interface and agreed WordPress implementation.

What you bring

Accurate business and service information, available brand assets, evidence for any claims and useful feedback.

What we translate

Page structure, responsive decisions, content hierarchy, technical terminology, implementation choices and launch preparation.

Built to be understood

Search and conversion foundations

Website Design establishes a technically coherent starting point. Deeper audits, content strategy, Google Business Profile work and ongoing organic growth remain separate SEO or Local SEO services.

Search foundations

A new website can be structured with clear page topics, logical headings, metadata readiness, crawlable navigation, useful internal links, mobile usability and accurate image text alternatives.

Explore ongoing SEO support

Conversion foundations

Clear CTA hierarchy, relevant reassurance, usable contact paths and reduced form friction help visitors understand what to do next. These foundations support action without guaranteeing enquiries.

Discuss your website goals

For location-led discovery, the separate Local SEO service covers deeper local visibility work.

Clarity beyond launch

Ownership, hosting and portability

Access, licences and ongoing costs should be understandable before a website goes live. The exact arrangements belong in the agreed project scope, not in vague assumptions.

Ask about ownership and hosting

Ownership after payment

After agreed payment is complete, the client owns the agreed completed custom work and content created for the project. Any exceptions are identified in the project agreement.

WordPress access

WordPress admin access is provided where it applies to the agreed implementation, with handover arrangements confirmed before launch.

Third-party licences

Fonts, plugins, stock media, platforms and other third-party products remain subject to their own licences, subscriptions and transfer rules.

Hosting and ongoing costs

The hosting arrangement, renewal responsibilities and known ongoing licence or service costs are explained before launch rather than hidden inside an unclear permanent bundle.

Portability and moving host

If hosting is moved, the agreed website files and portable data can be transferred subject to the receiving host, third-party licence terms, technical compatibility and any separately agreed migration work.

Selected website work

Websites built around real customer journeys.

A good website has to do more than look polished. It should make the business clear, guide the visitor and make the next action obvious.

Practical questions

Website Design FAQs

Answers to common questions about scope, ownership, updates and choosing the right website route.

Read about SEO foundations

What information do I need to provide before we start?

Start with accurate information about the business, its services, customers and practical goals. Available brand assets, photography, evidence for claims and timely feedback are useful; a technical specification is not required.

How many pages will my website need?

Page count follows the services, customer questions, search topics and actions the website must support. The structure is agreed during discovery rather than assumed from a fixed package.

Will I own the website when it is finished?

After agreed payment is complete, you own the agreed completed custom work and content created for the project. Third-party products remain subject to their own licence, subscription and transfer terms.

Can I update the website myself?

WordPress admin access is provided where applicable to the agreed implementation. Handover should clarify which content is editable and where specialist changes may still be sensible.

Does Website Design include SEO?

It can include foundational on-page SEO structure such as clear topics, logical headings, metadata readiness, crawlable navigation and mobile usability. Audits, content plans and ongoing optimisation are separate SEO work.

Will the website work on mobile?

Responsive design and usable mobile contact paths are core foundations. Layouts and controls are checked across representative mobile, tablet and desktop widths.

Can you help with copy, images or photography choices?

Copy support and photography sourcing can be agreed when the project needs them. Their depth, source, permissions and cost are project-dependent rather than automatically included.

What happens after launch?

Access, handover, hosting, licence renewals and any separately agreed support are clarified before launch. Ongoing maintenance, SEO or advertising should not be assumed unless included in your agreement.

How is this different from Website Redesign?

Website Design starts with a new structure. If an existing website has content, URLs, search visibility or customer behaviour to assess, preserve or migrate, use the Website Redesign service instead.

Do you provide hosting?

Hosting arrangements can be discussed and agreed for the project. The provider, renewal responsibility, ongoing cost and process for moving host are explained before launch.

Can this include ecommerce?

Catalogue, cart, checkout, payment, stock and fulfilment requirements belong to the separate Ecommerce Websites service because they change the scope and customer journey.

What if I am not sure what I need yet?

You can start with the business goal and the customer action you need to support. The Services overview can also help route Website Design, Website Redesign, Ecommerce and visibility needs.
